Making Learning-Centered Teaching Work in All Teaching and Learning Venues

I am offering Making Learning/ Learner-Centered Teaching Course Design and Redesign Institutes and a variety of workshops on this topic.  These workshops and institutes promote increased student engagement, student success and student learning  even while engaged in online learning.

In addition to learning how to make meaningful pedagogical changes, the development events show how to assess the implementation of learning or learner-centered teaching at the course, program, and institutional levels. This is an increasingly important aspect of higher education as we seek to improve student learning and as our institutions must evaluate and document what we are doing.

Half Day Workshops on Making Learning/ Learner-Centered Teaching Work

· Maximizing Learning - centered teaching approaches: Using easy to implement practices

Teaching Effectively Online

Faculty who use learning-centered teaching  make a successful pivot to online teaching and helping students to learn remotely. The principles of learning-centered teaching apply equally as well to teaching online.

I am offering presentations and workshops on Making Learning-Centered Teaching Work Online

The impact these workshops have had on teachers in their own words:

  • Written by a faculty member who participated in several workshops over a few years: "Thank you for introducing me to the joy of learning about learning! I am starting an EdD program this fall partly due to the conferences and literature you introduced me to! Thank you for your support and encouragement. "

         A clinical instructor

  • "Thank you for imparting your wisdom and helping me understand and utilize active learning and learning-centered teaching."
  • "You pushed me to do things better, to challenge assumptions, and to consider new approaches."

Everything is currently offered remotely either synchronously or asynchronously.

Here is an example of a presentation that can be made more dynamic and interactive if offered live remotely:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxCdwUChKL0&feature=youtu.be
